@Graci Old UM here - my view on this is complicated, but TL;DR is, reaping the whirlwind from having lusted after/chased megachurch/"seeker" $$$ in the '80s and '90s. UMC boxed itself into a corner of accepting low-rent, RW "theology" in the name of being a "big tent." Wesley's "think and let think" without the think part.
Some will disagree, and are welcome to - I'm on the outside now.

@Graci Wow. That is a crappy article. No where does it say explicitly that the departing churches want to be able to have LGBTQ+ pastors and to sanctify such marriages.
