@Graci Saw The Sword at a bar venue a few years back and it was a cozy and loud crowd. They did a greatest hits set, then the band went to the bar afterwards and I got to have a decent conversation with their guitarist Kyle. Sad they broke up last year.
Summer solstice concert in Fairbanks, AK in the early 80s. Outdoors, beautiful weather, great music from Michael Hedges, Alex DeGrassi, and Liz Story. Way fun.
@northernbassist A Windham Hill concert?
zackly.
@Graci First that comes to mind is Solomon Burke on a Saturday night at the Edmonton Folk Festival, just steady driving rain, and no one left, and it fired up Burke and the band, and you got an Atlantic Records soul revue like no other. Huge grins all around, onstage and off.
@Graci
I went to an outdoor concert next to a pond with some bikers. The headlining band was Steppenwolf. Caught a nice buzz just by breathing the air. Everyone was mellow and friendly with each other. I was able to walk right up to the front row with John Kay right there in front of me, then walk over to watch the sound engineers working the mixing board. Everyone behaved themselves yet still managed to have an excellent time.
Southern Culture on the Skids. A semi-regional band with a bit of national exposure. Rockabilly/Swamp Rock/Goofy Rock. You couldn't remain angry or sad because it was a bit of crazy, served up on solid basic rock music that made you move. And crave banana pudding.
