#nature Everyone knows to protect the bees because they pollinate flowers--but bats do it, too! Just look at this little guy COVERED in pollen! He is best böi. In fact, bats carry significantly more pollen in their fur compared to other pollinators. At least 500 species of flowers in 67 plant families rely on bats to survive. Bats are essential to our ecosystem!

@see_the_sus I've always thought they were fascinating. I had a How & Why book on bats when I was a little kid. It was the start of a lifelong fascination with them.
@GlennS if I'm not mistaken, bats are the sole pollinators of the Saguaro cactus
@GlennS Farming of agave is kiling off a lot of bats that rely on it as a food source.
