Met with one of my dear friends today. We met on 🐦 when it first started up, when we were both single and just starting our careers. Ended up neighbors and organized to protect the area during the 🔥 but hadn’t connected in a bit due to life busy.

It was good to connect in person.

My friend is very well connected. Heard realtors phones have been busy with folks who want to move here since election results.

It is really nice here, if you can learn to love the cold.

@yogapaddlerun. Where is "here?"

I've felt cold like that when I lived in West Virginia. The cold that stings any exposed skin when you go outside. Where the air *hurts*

You want to breathe through a scarf so that cold doesn't directly hit nasal passages or your throat.

The coldest it ever got there was at night. Minus 15⁰ F. Only once did it hit that low.

Strange how a thousand feet in elevation can make such a difference. I've never been as cold as I was there. So glad I escaped.

Do you ever wonder now how you did it - or why? I was out in similar conditions solo in a pretty remote area (might very well have been in '66). Decades later the only excuse I have is that it maybe didn't seem that much colder than most other days in January. But it really can be dicey if you're far from help and not as prepared as you think.

@Sr0bi @GeezerWench I had to go to work. Essential employee and all. I grew up here so have preparations if stuck in car. Old metal coffee can with Mylar blankets, fire materials, chocolate and a sleeping bag.

Sometimes in a TV series, they'll do an episode where it's supposed to appear cold out. They'll get the cast in coats, have some wind blowing and spray some fake snow here and there. Generally it doesn't bother me - until they stand with gloveless hands against bare metal. OK now it really does look fake.

@Sr0bi @yogapaddlerun

Right? lol

For the time being, I don't really want to be someplace where it gets colder than here in PA. We're south of Philadelphia.

@Sr0bi @yogapaddlerun

The how and why is I mostly had to because I lived there for a time.

It was a 100-year-old, drafty house. We couldn't afford to remodel/renovate it.

Biggest mistake of my life was moving there.
