you can't defeat the unconscious, since it's the ground, the mud so to speak, from which you grow and, hopefully, flower.
you can't escape the unconscious, into drugs, sex, power, etc. that way leads to death and worse.
integration of unconscious energies into consciousness to create a new way of being-in-the-world, a whole.
that's another possibility.
perhaps the reason abortion is their trigger is because they're trying to abort the new consciousness that's taking shape.
and feeling guilty about it, so projecting that too.
