I recall, years ago, some unkempt vagrant, who had only a passing acquaintance with personal hygiene, came in the store, walked up to my register, and demanded to know where the baking aisle and the cough syrup aisle were.

That fact that I didn’t know until today that vanilla extract is very high in alcohol is … odd. I’ve been using extract in baking for ages and never made that connection.
