Furious judge slams Montana for defying court orders in trans rights case & orders state to pay
Glad to know there’s a judge who is standing up to those fuckers.
@see_the_sus @TheNewsOwl its scary how viciously they are attacking trans rights, specifically, and LGBTQ+ rights in general, right now. And once again, it's hypocrites claiming to do it all in the name of religion and freedom.
@see_the_sus @TheNewsOwl people don’t realize how fragile our rights are, but SCOTUS is trying hard to remind us. The scariest thing for me is all of those nuts in the bird that keep going on and on about the discrimination against young white males and how we need to even things out. Especially the head tweet. 🤬
@see_the_sus @TheNewsOwl exactly. I felt the same way when I went to El Salvador. Nowhere near as bad, but there was still shock at things that seem normal to me. People don’t get that geography is the only difference between us and poverty and oppression. And things can change fast.
I think I’ve mentioned, on here, this book but if I haven’t, I truly believe everyone should open it up and get a glimpse at the rest of the world. It is from the 1990s so I’m sure there are changes to what families consider their prized possessions, but it’s still an excellent anthropological examination of “wealth.”
@see_the_sus @TheNewsOwl I’ll definitely take a look. And show my kids!
It’s one of my favorites in my book collection, thanks to a friend’s Christmas gift back in the late ‘90s.
@see_the_sus @TheNewsOwl the excess we live with in the west is embarrassing. Myself very much included.
Yeah, even with as little money I have it’s very easy to fall into the trap. Makeup, jewelry, books, art, clothes. Scouring thrift stores and online sales isn’t any different than spending at Tiffany’s. It’s my attempt at filling an emotional void.
@Gambit_1 @TheNewsOwl
There’s too much “taking for granted” behaviour.
I was a volunteer, helping refugees, (Africa, Iraq), for a couple of years and the shock they went thru when I took them into a grocery store or a fast food drive thru. Or me, being a woman, driving and talking freely. It was all a huge eye-opener for me.
