My son was in elementary school at the time. I remember picking him up after school, he'd jump into the car and yell, "MOM IS IT FINALLY OVER?" I'd say, "No kiddo. Unfortunately not. Maybe tomorrow..." It was excruciating.
How naive to think it couldn't get worse...
