Tonight I was reminded why Twitter is hell. I argued with a transphobe who wants all drag banned because just dressing in drag is “grooming”. In the same breath they said no laws should target parents, then said parents should be legally barred from medically transitioning their children. It was ridiculous. When I argued persecuting trans people would be unconstitutional, they were ready to get rid of the constitution. And these are our supposed patriots. It’s disgusting. #politics

@Gambit_1 They don't give a damn about 'the constitution' and never have.

They just want to hurt people and be edgy and cruel, as their actual lives are devoid of love and light and human connection.

Sometimes people get so damaged and messed up and discover that if they behave like that, they get attention. Sure, mostly negative attention. But that's better for some people than realizing they are just angry scared adults who never grew up.

You'd think people would have figured this playbook out by now.

History shows us that picking a marginalized group to punch down on, and then associating them with the worst thing possible at the time is super effective.

That kind of hate is like a drug. Dopamine is released. They feel good and justified. Like any addict though, the dose has to increase, and that's when things get scary.

@mouses exactly. Like I said, if you want to find grooming, there are plenty in church. I don’t have anything against churches, but how do people not see how insidious real grooming is.

And that’s what it came down to. They think being trans or dressing in drag is grooming, but they can’t say why (because if they did, they’d be admitting to being disgusting transphobes).

I’m all for open debate, but people like that make me think we never should have down from trees.

The irony of it all? Personally (and this is just me) I find kids in general disgusting and gross snot bags, and had surgery to make sure I'd never have to raise one in my early 20's.

I have no idea why me being happy and myself and dressing as makes me comfortable and being on hormone replacement therapy somehow has anything to do with hurting others. It's so catshit crazy.

The one thing I can never get is why these people just stop taking their kids to drag shows. But as you said, that’s never what this is about.
