History shows us that picking a marginalized group to punch down on, and then associating them with the worst thing possible at the time is super effective.

That kind of hate is like a drug. Dopamine is released. They feel good and justified. Like any addict though, the dose has to increase, and that's when things get scary.

@mouses exactly. Like I said, if you want to find grooming, there are plenty in church. I don’t have anything against churches, but how do people not see how insidious real grooming is.

And that’s what it came down to. They think being trans or dressing in drag is grooming, but they can’t say why (because if they did, they’d be admitting to being disgusting transphobes).

I’m all for open debate, but people like that make me think we never should have down from trees.

The irony of it all? Personally (and this is just me) I find kids in general disgusting and gross snot bags, and had surgery to make sure I'd never have to raise one in my early 20's.

I have no idea why me being happy and myself and dressing as makes me comfortable and being on hormone replacement therapy somehow has anything to do with hurting others. It's so catshit crazy.

The one thing I can never get is why these people just stop taking their kids to drag shows. But as you said, that’s never what this is about.

Don't want an abortion? Don't have one.

Not trans? Don't transition.

@mouses Right???!!! It’s almost like letting people live their lives. I wish I could just blame it on religion, but its all kinds of crazies. From the far right to the TERFS, everyone has to oppress a small minority just trying to live their lives.

You encourage and mold the population to blame people even worse off than yourself, give them any group to hate on as long as it's not the ultra rich.

Keep them punching down, and convince them that the reason their life is a struggle has nothing to do with the cancer of late state capitalism, but is the fault of 'those people' who are struggling just as hard to keep the bills paid and enjoy life.

@mouses You hit the nail on the head. I’m an atheist, but I minored in comparative religions so I gave them chapter and verse on why they couldn’t use that as an excuse. Their response was to call me a pedo. I couldn’t stop laughing, which pissed them off. But you’re right, its not about reason, logic, or religion, its about hate.

@Gambit_1 Yup. It's the current shitty thing that the hateful people are doing to trans people, and it's awful.

I can feel and see it in rural areas. I've been out for a while.

People used to just laugh at me or make snide remarks. In this current year, it's become much more aggressive.
