@Helical_Code I like the imperfections :) it gives me hope that some day I will progress from having a lot of imperfections to maybe only a few. What's next for this lovely yarn?
@Foxthorn
I think it's going to be an infinity scarf. After I swatch, I'll have a better notion about whether that's going to fly.
I might have made too much for that purpose - I have more than 13 ounces (380 grams). Nothing says I have to use all of it for one purpose, though.
@Helical_Code 13 ounces! Wow you did that very quickly
@Helical_Code I'm so tempted by a wheel but I feel like I should learn to walk (spindle) before I start trying to run (wheel). Maybe I'm overthinking it.
@Helical_Code I've been quietly eyeing the dreamingrobots electric eel wheels...small footprint, smaller price, minimal commitment. No foot involvement so hopefully less coordination needed allowing more focus on the hands and drafting. Also, small enough that I might be able to sneak it into the house without the SO freaking out.
@Foxthorn
So as it turns out, my friend J who got me into spinning was thinking of getting this as a gift for her friend M. Let me see what I can find out about this before you take the plunge! M has tons of experience with fibery things, so her take is valuable. (I think my carder is the same one she has.)
@Helical_Code Ohhhh thank you!
@Foxthorn
Wheels are expensive! I had the great luck of someone giving me a wheel (Ashford Traveler from the 70s or 80s) because they had inherited two from a family friend and already had one. I might still be spindle spinning otherwise.
I did collect a drum carder with birthday money some years ago. I'll have to post a picture of that next time I get it out.
