Maiden voyage of new shawl.
A few years ago, I ordered a mystery grab bag of fiber that included peach, mint, and speckled cream. I spun those up, added in the dark pink from another spinning project, and then found the dark brown yarn in the remainders bin on Boxing Day.
The whole effect is something out of the 1970s, I think. Given that I didn't really enjoy the 70s, I find it both very familiar and unsettling.
@Helical_Code spinning is the process of creating the fibers and then the shawl is created via knitting? loom? I know nothing....but I am curious about the process.

Spinning is indeed the process of creating the yarn. I think its 3-ply, which means I spun three strands and then twisted them (plied them) together.
With yarn in hand, you can weave or crochet or knit (and there are other options like Tunisian crochet and naalbinding)
For this shawl, I knit the yarn, and in the direction that the stripes go (so I was only handling a single color at one time).
@Helical_Code what keeps the 3-ply yarn from unraveling? pure tension?
