Big boomy storms!! I won't know the damage to the garden until the sun comes up. I passed kidney stone #6 of the year this morning so that feels better. It'll be a good day to binge #StrangerThings and knock out 15 hours of work. Only one of the two submittals can go out the door today. The owner changed the design for the second submittal on Wednesday. I still need to get it *almost* finished. #ItNeverEnds #morecoffee
@Foxthorn Good luck with the deadline! Hope that was the last of the stones.
@Helical_Code I usually only get one or two a year. This year has been...special...and I'm not sure why. Submittal #1 has gone back into internal review!!!
@Foxthorn I'm guessing you know about the issues with calcium and oxalate intake (since kidney stones are calcium oxalate). It could be that you've drifted into a deleterious nutritional combo.
@Helical_Code I haven't changed my diet but I'm notorious for not drinking enough water and with summer and running...I'm sure my urologist and nephrologist just shake their heads when they see me coming. I typically have about 6 to 12 stones hanging out in my kidneys at any given time. I'm just thankful they seem to be staying on the small side (< 3 mm).
@Foxthorn I find it a bit challenging to drink as much water as I should. Plain water can make me a bit queasy, so I will add a dash of juice (1T per pint) and that seems to help.
@Helical_Code I find my water more palatable if I pour it into a coffee maker and let that little machine do its magic 🤣 😆 Did I mention that my urologist is a wonderful woman to put up with my cr@p?? I'm old enough to know better. I've been passing kidney stones for over 20 years. I still behave badly. Maybe some day I'll grow up and be a responsible adult. #DontCountOnIt
@Helical_Code I feel like men have a much harder time. The stone size and shape also factors in. I've passed relatively large (5 mm) stones with relatively little issue and then struggled with smaller (2-3 mm) spikey ones that cause a LOT of pain. I feel like passing stones has gotten easier as I've gotten older. It's been almost a decade since I've required medical intervention. This current batch is unusual for me as I the pain is very tolerable. Usually it's 1-2 weeks of excruciating pain.
