Help! Looks like we'll be getting some severe weather today, including possibly hail. I have several small plants that I'm a little worried about.
Do you think it would be a good idea to cover them to protect them from hail or falling limbs? I'm thinking a 5-gallon bucket with something heavy on top maybe.
@iamwill1w9 I'm in the same boat Will and I was going to do just that. 5 gallon buckets with heavy rocks on top to protect my tiny plants against the high winds and possible hail.
@Foxthorn Yes! I’ve got my buckets staged and ready. I’m going to keep an eye on the forecast. Eastern VA here.
@iamwill1w9 Will I saw you lost power yesterday. Are you doing ok this morning? Did your plants make it through ok?
@Foxthorn Thanks for checking. Power came back around midnight. Most of the plants are fine. But our knock out roses in the front yard are not fine! 😢 There going to be mostly gone for this season, but they’ll grow back.
@Foxthorn We’ve neglected pruning them properly for the last few years and we’re paying the price now. They’ve been so big and full with hundreds of blooms, but they were just too heavy. They couldn’t support their own weight
@iamwill1w9 Oh bummer! but they'll recover in time right? I seem to remember my mom's rose bushes being pretty hardy. I'm glad you made it through ok! We got largely missed...a couple of rounds of quick downpours and some gusty winds and it was over. I'm not complaining.
@Foxthorn Glad you guys are ok. Yeah they grow back. They’ll just look ugly for a while until they do.
