@LiseL

watch it... or I won't show self-control in this situation of annoyance.

@tgraph52

The detail is a bit much, don't you think? You're six! Shouldering responsibility???

@LiseL

Did they mention quietly staying in line for the outhouse runs a couple times a day?

It was a fun deal. They taught us things like lighting a fire, following a trail... the treasure hunts were very cool. At some age older than 6 yrs old, I earned a hatchet for accumulating points during the 2 week session.

It seemed like we went way out of town to this little lake where the camp was.. really just one building. [Burma shave signs] Later it turned out, I drove farther every day to work.

@tgraph52

Sounds like fun. Yes, the world of your childhood is always a lot smaller when you look back at it, isn't it? I never went to camp, but I did have Brownies. 😁 Of course we learned sewing and crafts rather than firemaking and wayfinding. Very gendered, I'm afraid.

@LiseL

My sister was in the Brownies and my mom was the whatever you call the chaperone/leader of Brownies.

I went to a much more serious camp for a few years later on, staying 4 to 9 weeks in the summer. It was one my dad went to and all of us boys and then our kids... all that tradition sort of thing. It was a great one in the woods of northern MN. Many memories.

@FinnegansWhacked @LiseL

yes.. I couldn't remember the technical term.

thanks for the help 😜 πŸ˜€

@FinnegansWhacked @tgraph52

πŸ˜‚ Brown owl. I had to look it up, but I certainly recognize it.
