@northernbassist I'd be interested to see the results of how the resonance changes because of the sharp edges vs curved shape of more traditional guitars.
never thought about soundboard shape making a difference...interesting idea. i'll ask my luthier buddy about that when i see him next.
i remember a story of a 19th century luthier who built a spruce topped guitar with a papier-mache body to support his assertion the top was more important to tone than the body. Apparently it worked.
@northernbassist I just imagine that the sound would bounce off the interior differently than what is currently in traditional guitar bodies. Not sure if the result would be noticeable when coming out of the hole, or off the resonance of the back sound board. I guess I'm wondering if earlier luthiers - and piano makers, discovered something about the curve that maximizes the quality of sound...
