The pumpkin I tossed into my garden last November has become a green monster, crowding out my toms, asparagus, and russet potatoes...
Some blooms have appeared for this potential, but as yet, I have not had terribly good success with gourds. I did manage to grow a pretty decent acorn squash a couple seasons ago. These guys are always a result of my compost dumping, so this is kinda cool.
