@Fellixe @Museek Counterpoint: He's never been a media strategist. He is an incoherent spewer of dots. The media connected those dots in his favour when it served their interests, when he was a popular novelty, and when they (esp Fox) could glean benefit from him.
He no longer serves their interests, so now his dots are left alone to be the blithering idocy they were all along.
It's been a shell game the whole time -- media corporations are driven more by profits than principles.
@sumpnlikefaith @Museek I'd enjoy the comfort of just declaring him a fool and embracing that we were mistaken and can correct course to not be mistaken again. But he has struck exactly the right chords to cause discord too often. He studied at the foot of Roy Cohn, his family history has the taint of Nazism, hell he probably could tell you exactly who F. T. Marinetti was and how Mussolini employed theater of outrage. Even his dabbling in the WWF/WWE was of a similar school. No accident.
