BREAKING: Illinois' superstar Governor J.B. Pritzker hilariously trolls Trump at the Democratic National Convention by referring to himself as "an actual billionaire" before mocking Donald's low IQ.
And it gets even better...
@AskTheDevil @EvilBunny
I'm not losing my focus now. A billionaire governor wants to help elect Kamala Harris? I'll take it.
If he does a good job as governor, he can stay. If not he can be voted out when the time comes. But for now, I'll take it.
Allow me to rewrite that a little:
A rapacious and amoral parasite wants to attach themselves to the person I expect to run the country.
That's how we get parasites running our country, like we have now.
@AskTheDevil @EvilBunny
Fair enough. I guess we'll just have to wait and see 🤷🏻♀️
@Liliki @EvilBunny We really don't need to wait, because that's how we've been doing it this whole time.
@AskTheDevil @EvilBunny he's already done his bit at the DNC 🤷🏻♀️
We don't need to shmooze with him anymore. But again if he wants to vote for Kamala, I'll take it.
I am perplexed about his need to announce he's a billionaire, though 🤔
@Liliki @EvilBunny Many people have bought into the idea they've been sold: that someone becomes a billionnaire through some special virtue, hard work, know-how, rather than through luck and amorality.
@AskTheDevil @EvilBunny oh I haven't. But this is why politics is such a nasty, dirty job: schmoozing dirt bags seems an inevitable part of the job. That's why I could never be in politics. I'm not polite enough to lie. I'd tell anyone I please exactly what I think of them and lose my job in 5 minutes 😂
@Liliki @EvilBunny We've been trained to think that liars and crooks are a natural and unavoidable part of politics. That it's somehow inherent and necessary, like having to eat and poop.
But if we make lying and being a dirtbag into things that get you thrown out of politics instead, the problem goes away.
We keep accepting things because they've been made to seem "normal" but something being common doesn't make it good.
@Liliki @EvilBunny Smallpox and beating your wives and children used to be normal. Slavery used to be normal. Not having telephones used to be normal. Killing whales for oil used to be normal.
People being corrupt in politics, using it to get rich, or using money to influence laws may happen all the time, but that doesn't mean we have to keep letting it happen, or that it's "supposed" to be that way.
We could fix everything! : )
@Liliki @EvilBunny We don't need billionnaires for politics. We don't really need them for any purpose at all.
Just like we don't need industry lobbyists, or PACs and SuperPACs, or people running for president that make fake campaign promises. Just like we don't need crooked judges, or wealthy tech bros or killer cops.
We've been taught that lies and corruption in campaigns (money influencing elections) are "normal".
That's like saying it's normal to have cancer if you get cancer.
@Liliki @EvilBunny I dunno. Maybe we should "normalize" being really direct and not being polite enough to lie!
I think people have recently demonstrated a readiness to accept when a politician calls their opponent a liar, rapist, and felon openly. : )
@AskTheDevil Absolute Candor? The primary teaching of the Qowat Milat @Liliki @EvilBunny
@EvilBunny Nobody has a problem with a governor being a billionnaire?
