@tirebiter73 @Charles_Hawtrey I actually was on a flight from SoCal to NorCal during the Air Traffic Controller's strike. They gave everyone free alcoholic beverages..it was my 21st birthday so that's where I got my first *legal* drink 😄

@Charles_Hawtrey @tirebiter73 Fortunately despite being nervous and consuming a couple of drinks people back in 1981 were a heck of a lot more pleasant to engage with. It was a very short flight from LAX to OAK though, had it been longer I suppose someone could have gotten ugly. Now days some people are disruptive and hostile even just taxiing out to the runway! 😖

I hate flying now, I remember when it used to be pleasurable, 9/11 had a lot to do with that unfortunately plus the airlines squeeze the penny so hard they melt now.

@Charles_Hawtrey @tirebiter73 Yeah..all of the rigmarole with security and limits to what you can take with you in carry on has been especially a pita since the shoe bomber. I flew after 9/11 and was able to still take cans of slim fast in my tote (was having problems swallowing food). After the idiot tried to detonate his shoes they started the whole 3 oz container limit in carry ons and shoe removal crap. People just aren't as pleasant after jumping through all the hoops before boarding.

@Charles_Hawtrey @tirebiter73 We fly SW most often because they allow 2 checked bags free and usually have the best prices but am glad we've not had to fly anywhere recently since they seem to have been having more cancelation problems than other carriers (though when we've had to fly Delta they had also huge problems). 🤷‍♀️

@Embers @tirebiter73

I live in Peru now but try to get back to Mass at least once a year, no direct flights so it take anywhere from 12 - 14 hours including flying to usually Miami and having to get my luggage, throw it through the x-ray machine AGAIN, etc etc etc. It is a PITA.

@Charles_Hawtrey @tirebiter73 Am sure passengers from Peru probably spend more time waiting for their luggage to be scrutinized too..can't say I envy you on that issue.
