It's not a slow one.
It takes talent to aerosolize anthrax, which I assume is what happened due to use of heavy trenching equipment. Usual anthrax is acquired by direct contact and gives you a slow moving ugly skin ulcer.
This guy presented five weeks after initial infection, was misdiagnosed until a nurse recognized it and sent photos to an infectious disease specialist, and was still well enough to go home within a week.
