Many years ago, I, with effort, read The Talisman, by Stephen King and Peter Straub. What book by a great author were you most disappointed in?

-it's Supernatural and Sci-Fi Saturday!

@EdgeOErin Believe it or not, Pet Cemetery
The more you read, the more you knew how it was going to come out at the end.

@Darkenyght1701 Sometimes that is the way it is with books or movies that are raved about. I recall how disappointed I was in Eastwood's Unforgiven. It was okay, but nowhere near as good as many westerns, incl. The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

@EdgeOErin I actually liked Unforgiven- the idea of the gunslinger forced back out of retirement.
Which now raises the question of was John Wick meant, intentionally or not, to be an ode to that idea?

@Darkenyght1701 I liked it, I just didn't love it. As far as the John Wick movies, and as much as I like Keanu, I thought the first one was good, and they got increasingly worse. The last one was terrible, but that's just me

@EdgeOErin They are getting a little more over the top as far as the fight scenes go.
I did like the sequence in the last one where as they go upstairs, they keep finding weapons.
" Oh look....swords" 😂

@EdgeOErin I enjoy the usual suspects (popular authors) such as King, Palahniuk & Gaiman.
Chuck Palahniuk idk what even to call his genre… but he started disappointing me when he published Damned, yet I still read everything that he writes. Nothing has yet to do any better than after Damned. Idk. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ King … man is just a writing MACHINE. Yet I don’t have the attention span to read his books anymore. I think the last thing I read was Nightmares & Dreamscapes in the 90s

@bettertobend @EdgeOErin As a novel, I grew disappointed with the Sandman by Gaiman. He's one of my favorites but the book did not resonate well with me.

@NiveusLepus @EdgeOErin same on Sandman! And I honestly don’t enjoy his books of short stories. Neverwhere is my gold standard for rating Gaiman.

@NiveusLepus @bettertobend No, I haven't. I am presently reading DAWNBREAK, which is wonderful!

@bettertobend I believe a couple others have posted how much they liked Damned. Thanks, Bent :)

@EdgeOErin and I just don’t get the love for it. It’s not even his voice, it’s like someone else wrote it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@EdgeOErin I liked the Talisman until the ending. His notorious endings...I've been disappointed so many times.

It, Under The Dome, or The Stand immediately come to mind. I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting.

I love his conversational style , so the ride to the finish is enjoyable enough. But:
"Giant spider.. Seriously?"

@Feathered_Friend Thank you my Feathered Friend who doesn't tweet blue notes ;)
