A small part of me thinks the Trump White House will find a way to turn a government shutdown into an excuse for something nasty and repressive. I don't have anything specific in mind, but this is a man who feeds on chaos. On the other hand, this is a man who can't remember how he feels about key legislation from one moment to the next. Bottom line: There's nothing good in all this. We're sucking as a representative democracy.
