Turns out that when you have more than two big supermarket chains to choose from, prices are lower.

@DyDave not really in ๐จ๐ฆ. we need a bit more competition. but all the biggies are owned by 2-3 companies. that's it.
We have two chains that control 65% of the market. They basically collude to rip people off mercilessly and have been getting away with it for decades. ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ
They use the money they make ripping people off to pay the fines, then rip people off more to pay bonus dividends to shareholders.
And, at the other end, they collude to rip off farmers by artificially keeping produce prices low, so taxpayers have to help keep the farmers afloat to guarantee food supplies so that prices in the supermarket donโt go up even more.
Itโs quite the scheme ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ
