Another one to add to the "not a drag queen" list of people who harm children.

The Liberal Party is the more right-wing of our two major parties here in OZ, and the only time I've ever heard of the defendant was when he got upset at my local council for the Murdoch-invented non-crime of 'cancelling Christmas', so there you go πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Well, you'd hope so, wouldn't you?

It takes a fair amount of evidence even to be charged, so good riddance to that dude.

Meanwhile, I will work tirelessly to ensure that a decent independent wins in the imminent by-election because, well, enough's enough with those guys.

The electorate is just up the road, and there's an excellent candidate ready to go.

@DyDave Australia. Our toilets flush counter-clockwise and Liberals are Conservatives. Ya gotta love it!πŸ€£πŸ‘

@Tacitus_Kilgore

Honestly, you'd be surprised how similar it is to Canada. Hotter, and with weird animals, yes. But the people are more similar than not.

I lived in Montreal until I was 10, and that made things seem *very* different when we came here, but I've learned from trips back to other parts of Canada that it's much closer than I ever understood.

See: Australian Rules Football, which is our substitute for hockey because we don't have ice πŸ˜‚

@DyDave In all seriousness, if I could travel, Australia is near the top of the list.

@Tacitus_Kilgore

I'm biased, of course, having become a naturalised Aussie on Jan 27, 1988 (the day after the bicentenary of the British invasion πŸ˜‰), but it's mostly pretty noice IMHO πŸ˜€

@DyDave My list:

Europe - Starting in Britain and sailing over to Normandy and following the path the Allies took in WWII.

Ireland - The home of my ancestors.

Egypt - To see the Pyramids.

Australia - To see the Outback and the wildlife.

@Tacitus_Kilgore

That's a very solid list πŸ‘

Of those, I've never been to Egypt, but my mum has shown me so many pictures (mostly of cats) that I feel like I have πŸ˜‚

Oh, and we didn't sail to Normandy, but rather caught the old hovercraft from Dover to Calais, and my dad drove us there in a little Renault.

@Tacitus_Kilgore

When we moved here, my dad negotiated a deal with the oil company he worked for (you may remember Golden Eagle or Ultramar if you're anywhere they had gas stations) that we would get the price of a first-class trip home to Canada every year, and the same 'hardship allowance' that employees in Indonesia got.

Then, he meticulously found the cheapest flights, either around the Pacific or around the world, so we could see new things on our way to Canada every year.

It was fun 😊

@DyDave So Murdoch is the original source of that lie? Funny he doesn't strike me as a "believer" πŸ˜† πŸ˜†

@Tattoomonkey29

Well, I dunno if Rupert made it up, but every one of his newspapers and TV outlets sure spend a heap of time hammering on that nail every single year.
