That's one thick slab—are the reissues the same? Might be a trick of the video, of course.
Yeah, the only change to the '61 specs is the 5-position switch which "bafflingly" Fender didn't start putting in as standard until 1977 🤷♂️
I think the finish makes them look deceptively thinner, and Rory's worn one kinda shows that off.
Having built a couple of Teles and Strats, I know that friends who come over have been quite surprised at how chunky the unfinished blanks are. Teles are especially chunky because they don't have the contouring on the back. Big slabs of goodness.
