Got a bit of high-gain stuff to do today. These two have basically the same pickups and, honestly, sound very similar through a driven amp, but it really is a no-brainer choosing the one that's more fun.
Note: MXR Phase 90 pedals are very good for making sure Explorers don't fall over and bust off the headstock.

One of them even stays in tune no matter what abuse you do to it. And the big, fat 50s neck can't help but bring out one's inner Hetfield. 😉
I'd second that choice. I'm sitting here learning the part I need to record and the Explorer sits just right. I reckon the V is just too unwieldy for me.
I've always thought about getting a V, but it's a bit like the advice the great Richie Benaud always gave to cricket captains: "If you win the toss, you should always think about bowling first. But you should *only* think about it." 😀
@DyDave I know I mentioned here recently, I really need to add an Explorer and a traditional V to the arsenal. If I had to choose one it'd be the Explorer though. They're just so unbelievably comfortable to me 👍
