I have high hopes that conservatives don’t take the USHOR. The harm already done by SCOTUS to basic rights must be rolled back. The threats made in the past 2 years to eliminate Social Security & Medicare must be dealt with. Expansion of SCOTUS to truly represent the 13 districts. All of this is within our reach, but for one thing. Partisan politics. Can we expect the opposing parties to quit stonewalling and work for us instead of corporate & RW interests now? What will it take?
@DocLaing easy answer.
LOSING ELECTIONS

Better answer:
Term limits in congress & SCOTUS.
It’s time for the old to make way for the new.
@DocLaing we need the new in to get rid of the old to limit the new from becoming old. It just hasn't happened. I opposed most of the (D) candidates because of age. Biden has both made the case for and against.
@SECRET_ASIAN_MAN
Much as I appreciate what Biden has done, he has that reaction on most of us.
This morning I had a thought come to me. The young think of the term ‘turn of the century’ as meaning the year 2k. As a boomer I automatically think 1900. It’s significant that the old won’t let go easily.
@DocLaing I don't think we can expect harmony and performance. Our government has been a puppet show since the times of Samuel Clemons.
@DocLaing Yes, they'd like few things more than a reversion to Puritanism and bloodletting, I expect. But how it really is tends to be more like this:
Even the constitution itself was written for the benefit of the rich & powerful. Conservatives & evangelicals would have us revert back to the 19th century values that oppressed the poor and non- whites.
