While I've enjoyed Counter.Social, I've had a better experience with Mastodon. I also feel like it's generally winning over more folks from more of the communities I enjoy interacting with.

Whether or not I end up sticking with Twitter or moving to Mastodon is still a bit TBD, but I don't expect to hang out here very much.

@ay will probably be moving to Mastodon when Daniel has his server up

I joined both Masto and CoSo in May. Since then, I've found much more engagement, followers, and people to follow here on CoSo.

But the 'momentum' has shifted (for me). I suspect many Twitter users waited to find a new/second home until after the sale was final. Or maybe they feel alienated after recent events.

My unscientific take is that many of the tech, academia, and journalism folks are going to Masto.

@SQLClause @ay

I still have greater Following/Follows numbers here. But Masto engagement is starting to overtake CoSo.

@DaveMasonDotMe @SQLClause Yes, I've definitely seen this momentum swing.

For me, data community chose here, but everyone else chose masto. I was concerned about the split, but it seems like the gravity of masto is starting to drag data peeps over there.
