I am seeing many more people online asking for TruthSocial to be shut down (due to the violent rhetoric from the website). This would be extemly difficult (at least legally) as their host would refuse any court order not issued by SCOTUS.
Even if Verisign siezed the domain, they could relaunch under the .gop domain (yes, the GOP has their own domain extention).
They could wind up like 8Kun and only be able to get hosting from jerks like Rob Monster.
If they can't stop people from calling for civil war and shooting FBI agents, Apple WILL shit-can them from the App Store, and that app is literally the only interface they offer.
@mcfate Being cutoff from Apple would hamper Truth Social, but I doubt Apple or Google will make a move until after the midterm elections. If the GOP wins, they will refuse to remove the apps. If the Democrats win, they will pressure TruthSocial to reign in some of the content (but probably still wait before kicking the site off both app stores).
Not a chance. Apple will kick them to the curb the instant they do anything that makes the nice walled garden look toxic.
Troth Sensual's not a political party, it's just some "social media" app that the SEC is investigating. It's got no special or protected status.
Google's immaterial, there's no Android app; there's no WEB INTERFACE.
@mcfate I see. I do think itβs odd Truth Social has not launched an Android App on the Google Play store. They must lack the tech folks (who mostly refuse to work for the company) to build a proper app.
Their two top tech people just up and walked out waaaaaaaay back in March. I haven't heard that they've been replaced, but I think it's at least fair to say they're not getting the top talent over there.

@Darnell
The latter "reappeared" only after it agreed to start moderating its content to Apple's satisfaction and demonstrated that it was doing so.
You realize, I hope, that any income Apple might make off its cut of subscription fees amounts to statistical noise in its bottom line, right?
