Gonna do some musing about the bird site. I've never personally been into the idea of denouncing a platform and saying "I'm leaving forever!" I still have a FB account, for instance. I don't use it much, but it is a way to keep in touch with a number of friends and family. Because some friends and some family use FB almost exclusively for the purpose of staying in touch, it's worth it to me to keep the FB account. I just don't ever post about politics there, or engage with political posts.

Someone just replied to this thread and mentioned keeping different social media accounts for different purposes. That's how I handle social media: if a social media account has a purpose, I keep it. So the question I'm asking myself now, is what purpose, if any, does the bird site serve in my life?

Being here on CounterSocial feels ACTUALLY social. The bird site hasn't felt social for me for a very long time. I think I remember when I first joined over there, and I feel nostalgic for that time. When I first joined the bird site, it WAS social. I connected with people who liked the same bands, discovered new bands. Me and complete strangers would tweet song lyrics at each other in all caps, just being silly. It was genuinely fun.

@dreandmax Here, we aren't prancing for celebrity likes. At least not yet.

@DammitJohn Exactly. It's so refreshing and I hope it stays that way.
