I’ve never been gregarious or particularly friendly. In school I pretty much kept to myself, and I have no friends. I need huge chunks of time daily to myself, which my family respects. That’s not to say I’m a misanthrope, I don’t actively dislike humanity, I just need a lot of space. I don’t NEED people, except my family.

@Cryspeg I don’t like people en masse, but one on one I think humans are pretty cool. You must be an empath, empathy need a lot of alone time because we tend to pick up on the emotions of others and it gets exhausting if we don’t get our alone time.

@cjcrew you are so right about needing the alone time. I get overwhelmed with other peoples emotions. It’s wearing.

@Cryspeg It is, especially if you’re in a stressful situation like at work. I need a full day alone to deal with a 6 hour shift at work. And our customers are basically good people, it’s just hard for me to be around so many people in a short time period. Unfortunately this is all I’m qualified for and at my age I don’t want to go back to school to train for another line of work.

@cjcrew yeah work was exhausting. Most of my jobs were maid and customer service.

@Cryspeg Customer service is exhausting and I hated cleaning other people’s homes and motel rooms (only lasted a month at that job). The motel I cleaned at was a pit, I don’t know why anyone would stay there. The kids of the owner did the laundry and half the time I’d have to redo it because they would stuff the washer and dryer so full nothing got cleaned or dried.

Cleaning other people’s houses kind of weirded me out. I’m not comfortable moving their stuff around.

@cjcrew I enjoyed working as a maid, because I worked alone, but people were often disgusting. Man could I tell stories.

@Cryspeg I imagine you could! The few weeks I worked at the motel I saw enough to make me uncomfortable ever staying in a motel room again.

@Cryspeg @cjcrew I’m similar, I can lose myself in stuff and I hit a content happy state. I have to pay attention more with each moving person in the room, that can be exhausting.

@SatuUnelmia @cjcrew yeah exhausting is spot on. I get lost in books, like not hearing or seeing anything.

@Cryspeg @cjcrew I listen to books while I read the news 😂😂 I love to read.

@Cryspeg @SatuUnelmia I used to read all the time, I loved reading. Unfortunately depression robbed me of that. It’s really hard for me to retain what I read and I find myself having no clue what I just read. I don’t read much anymore, I miss it.

@Cryspeg @SatuUnelmia It is and let me tell you watching TV is not the same thing as getting lost in a book. My ADD is just bad enough that books on tape don’t work because my mind wanders off and an hour later I have no idea what I was listening to.
