Have you ever noticed that God only tells people things they agree with?
@CriticalCupcake there are two ways to look at this: like my children, people only hear what they want to, things that confirm their world view. Or: "new God" only talks like that. Old God was busy smiting those who disagreed or making them prove their faith by telling them to kill their son!
