In an effort to curb phone-related distractions this year, the school went to a policy where five phone violations earns a student a "social suspension" from attending ALL extracurricular activities for the rest of the semester. 10 violations and you're suspended for the year. No dances, no games, nothing.
We are five weeks into the year and have six kids who are suspended from all social events. Already.
If I wasn't convinced it's an addiction before, I am now.
@Coctaanatis First violation is confiscate the phone and student can retrieve it end of day. Second is confiscation and parent retrieves it. Third is confiscation, parent retrieval, and detention. Fourth is phone is confiscated, parent retrieval, in-school suspension, and phone is banned from the premises. Fifth is fourth plus social suspension.
That's how far these kids are going, and how far their parents are letting them.
