JD Vance tried to own Tim Walz by playing a video game saying "This is as close as Walz got to combat"

vance missed twice. and has horrible trigger discipline

@Kinnison Vance never experienced combat, either, according to his book Hillbilly Elegy. He was a military journalist.

@Coctaanatis

Dont make me defend Vladamer Futon

THe point is Vance keeps digging on Walz falsely claiming he was in combat. Vance has never made that claim

@Kinnison @Coctaanatis Last I heard, Walz never claimed to have been in combat. He said he's been to Afghanistan, which he had as a member of a congressional delegation.

@Coctaanatis @Kinnison I think it's reasonable to construe that he was trying to say he carried in the service, i.e. in preparation for war. It's not like he's telling a first person story of a fight he wasn't in.I give him a pass.

@Boyceaz @Kinnison I'm not a fan of politicians, and even good ones are known to stretch the truth. In this case I suppose it's technically accurate, but intended to convey the impression that he was was in (or at least in proximity to) combat, which isn't true.

Compared to the parade of lies coming out of the Trump campaign it's a minor faux pas.

@Coctaanatis @Kinnison C'mon. His point had nothing to do with his service, just that weapons of war don't belong in people's personal arsenals.

Follow

@Boyceaz @Kinnison He used and exagerated his service to make a point with which I agree. And it's this clip that Vance and others now point to in their attacks on Walz's character. It was stupid, but it's what people, and especially politicians, do.
