University of Washington study finds that the number of Americans carrying a handgun almost doubled from 2015-19, from 3 million to six million. Most people carrying the guns do so for protection from other people. People in states with lax concealed-carry gun laws are more likely to carry than those in states with more restrictive laws.

@Coctaanatis What a nauseating statistic. I am never going to states with lax gun laws. They can play the Wild West amongst themselves. Just leave the rest of us alone ffs!

@Coctaanatis this study is interesting. Permitless has a lower rate than shall or may permit. The last statistic is misleading because the investigators did not ask survey participants which state they lived in. It just lumps all respondents together and isn’t really representative of all states. CCW is a real and growing issue that will lead to increased risk and actual death - suicide, accidents and homicide.
