@ToruOkada It's a glimpse into the beliefs motivating a group of people, not a critique on their interpretation of the Bible. Obviously, other people reach very different conclusions.
@Coctaanatis Absolutely. Several religions allow for different valid interpretations. The problem arises in Abrahamic religions - they often deny that several interpretations are equal. Even worse, often they don't even acknowledge that their religion is an interpretation. This leads to some bizarre contortions because of contradictory messages.
@ToruOkada There's no shortage of one true religions based on tendentious readings of religious texts.
@ToruOkada Religious wars date to antiquity. For example, the four Greek Sacred Wars. It's not just the Abrahamaic religions.
@Coctaanatis But this is either unconnected words or circular logic. Being religious doesn't mean you have to be braindead (it helps, though, accepting religious institutions).
