I have never been a patient or employee here, but have friends and family who worked at Mission Hosptal in Asheville NC. This escaped my attention until today.
Basically, saying they have no obligation to offer quality healthcare.
@LnzyHou
Thank god! What a nightmare. Mission always had a good reputation I thought. Damn $ ruling healthcare.
It was a great hospital until it wasn’t. With another knee going, I’m planning on Advent if another replacement is needed.
@LnzyHou @CinnamonGirlE If it's not too personal what was the "out of pocket" for that adventure?
@LnzyHou @CinnamonGirlE Wow, that's great to read except the pain from your journey of course. How does AARP / UHC differ from standard UHC? Seems like the magazine would be no factor.
It’s not the magazine. It’s the negotiation power of its membership.
@LnzyHou @CinnamonGirlE Well right but you join that way, right? It sounds like there is a difference. I'm more than tired of 1 star Humana, they don't even cover my annual physical because my doctor isn't one of their moron lackeys.
All my appts, tests, etc are covered. Gap insurance was $149/mo when I started. Now near to $293/mo. But zero co-pay.
@LnzyHou @CinnamonGirlE It's insulting that we are offered and need 3 coverages but hey, go USA!
Gap = AARP UHC
@LnzyHou @CinnamonGirlE Right, supplement plans which vary from state to state too.
@MidnightRider @LnzyHou @CinnamonGirlE
Not that it's for a while yet... Hopefully...
But I've heard so many bad things about advantage plans...
But this now makes me wonder.. do I need that AARP membership going forward...
Is there a particular subgroup?
PPO? HMO-POS?
6 different plans listed in PA...
@LnzyHou @CinnamonGirlE I can remember when it was an excellent hospital. HCA is scum.
@TetsuKaba I remember when they built the heart center and it was a great hospital. Seeing what happened is horrible and that town needs a good hospital. The VA in Asheville was one of the best I’ve ever used as well.
@Ch3fchr1sto @TetsuKaba @CinnamonGirlE
My veteran neighbor swears by Asheville VA care.
@CinnamonGirlE back in the 1990's health care flipped to for profit, patients became costumers. Now it's all about the money and care isn't a driving factor.
@JPSCHWEIZER63 @CinnamonGirlE If they could have you stand on a conveyor belt they certainly would. Oh you have Humana, sorry the undercarriage wash isn't covered.
@JPSCHWEIZER63 @CinnamonGirlE The illusion of care is the driving factor, Humana has the gonads to ask you to take a survey after they deny you.
@CinnamonGirlE Weren't they Columbia HCA? I used to wrestle with them, Novation too.
@MidnightRider
I think so. HCA seems to be a nightmare. In general.
@CinnamonGirlE They all want the bank more than anything else as you stated. But the doctors are complicit too. They fired the male ultrasound tech for telling the cardiac doctor he couldn't code & charge the way he did. Then NY came a knocking and told him the same thing. Slap on the wrist and on with the show.
@MidnightRider
And it all circles back. Follow the money.
@CinnamonGirlE If we ran things right (we never will) medical personnel would be empowered to speak up with immunity and reward instead of banishment and blackballing. But that too ruins the profits, this country is corrupt AF and that won't change with elections either.
@CinnamonGirlE
Advent is coming in and will kick their asses out.
