Let me relate one story about living in the south. A long time neighbor, who attends the largest baptist church near me, called me to recruit my help. It was a normal neighborly call and I thought it was about a chicken-que. But it turned out to be a rallying call to get everyone she could to go to a meeting and root out what she called "the gay liberals" who wanted to volunteer at the local fire department.

I gasped something like "we can't do that!" She laughed and said why not? This is what she and other members of this church believe. Book bans, anti critical race theory. etc. etc. Their pastor gives political endorsements from pulpit. They hold three services every sunday and its a huge congregation. Its typical here. I hope it isn't other places

@CinnamonGirlE This is my experience in the south too. The huge church near me had a giant Trump cardboard man they proudly displayed whereas my last trip to NY I saw a rainbow flag on a church.
There is rainbow flag on a church in Asheville. We are a blue island floating in a sea of red.
@LnzyHou @MidnightRider @CinnamonGirlE
I don't live in Austin, TX, but I think they feel the same way!
20 yrs ago when I move to WV it was solid blue.That included 2 US Sens. 2 of 3 US Congresspersons, State Governor & Legislature. JFK & Eleanor Roosevelt were there heroes!
Now I feel like the Island. I make sure to put each and every Progressive & Dem yard sign up all along my large curing lot that ppl have to pass by on their way to drop & pick up kids from Elem. & Mid. School!
@Gladari @MidnightRider @CinnamonGirlE
I have not seen a single trump sign in Asheville. But lots of Kennedy the nutjob signs.
Keep putting up your signs!
@LnzyHou @Gladari @CinnamonGirlE Legalize cannabis, Asheville only. You'll see more rest of the state pearl clutching than lucky Oyster shuckers.
@MidnightRider @Gladari @CinnamonGirlE
If only.
@LnzyHou @Gladari @CinnamonGirlE Well the commercial with the campfire and kumbaya singing is false advertising! Who goes to the wood at a bonfire without a doobie! π
@MidnightRider @LnzyHou @Gladari @CinnamonGirlE
Hence the Bigfoot sightings
@YouInMyEye @LnzyHou @Gladari @CinnamonGirlE We have a pinball museum partner! OK Microbrewery, cool walkable town, pinball museum, cannabis desert. One of these things is not like the others, one of these things just doesn't belong....
@MidnightRider @YouInMyEye @LnzyHou @Gladari
Untrue! What would be better than walking around Asheville after a cannabis dessert, visiting the microbrewery and pinball museum?
@CinnamonGirlE @YouInMyEye @LnzyHou @Gladari What would be better? A legal dispensary for adults who worked their entire lives, won't drive after and want to have fun before the rest home, is that too much to ask?
@MidnightRider @YouInMyEye @LnzyHou @Gladari
You know I don't think so. Does anyone know of a place like this?
@CinnamonGirlE @Gladari @LnzyHou @YouInMyEye @MidnightRider Its legal in Illinois and we have 3 dispensaries close to me. If you have a medical reason you can also grow your own here and purchase at dispensaries with no taxes, recreational purchases can be as high as a 30% tax on things like vape cartridges.
@Lucky188 @Gladari @LnzyHou @YouInMyEye @MidnightRider
It's for sure I landed in the wrong place.
@Lucky188 @MidnightRider @YouInMyEye @LnzyHou @Gladari
Of course it should be. Both medically and recreationally. π€
@MidnightRider @Lucky188 @YouInMyEye @LnzyHou @Gladari
Due to lunacy.
Moonshine is okay. But the choice. We all should have the choice.
@CinnamonGirlE @Lucky188 @YouInMyEye @LnzyHou @Gladari Where I live it has enough tar to fix road cracks and the taste? What taste? I've had California's stuff, it's awesome. You don't need much either, easier on the lungs.
@MidnightRider @Lucky188 @YouInMyEye @LnzyHou @Gladari
No. I meant real moonshine, lol. And yes, nothing like dispensary stuff. Or somebody who knows way they are doing.
@MidnightRider @Gladari @LnzyHou @YouInMyEye @CinnamonGirlE Grower makes a huge difference as does the strain. Dispensaries have better than the streets but it can grown better than dispensaries. I grow my own organic, I don't even use store bought plant foods. I don't want anything in it but what is there naturally. Tastes better and smokes smoother while still knockng you on your proverbial arse. Anymore I cant smoke it often, I do make caramels that after 1/2 of one you might see bigfoot.π
@Lucky188 @Gladari @LnzyHou @YouInMyEye @CinnamonGirlE I have had some grown as you stated and I agree with your critique.
@MidnightRider @Gladari @LnzyHou @YouInMyEye @CinnamonGirlE The reason for the prohibition gets back to money. Pharma doesn't want people to self medicate - effective or not there is no profit in that. The other reason is more insidious, if its legal we wont keep the for profit prisons full. When Sessions was AG he had it rescheduled to the same level as Cocaine and Heroin. This increases sentences greatly. Sessions personal fortune is invested in Prisons for profit.
@Lucky188 @Gladari @LnzyHou @YouInMyEye @CinnamonGirl
Why can't we "stuff" the prisons with the violent felons? How bout that idea? My city is a shooting gallery. As for keeping it illegal, the free states are selling it like crazy.
@MidnightRider @YouInMyEye @LnzyHou @Gladari Well see they are all republican supporters like the Jan 6th crew. they call political prisoners and visit and sing songs with... I agree with your idea though. If police/courts were freed of prosecuting victimless crimes they would do a much better job and those that have victims.
@MidnightRider @Lucky188 @Gladari @YouInMyEye
Legalizing in CO has caused a stampede to the state. The highways are like LA. The rising housing costs are approaching LA levels. Homelessness is exploding with associated crime.
Legalizing weed has layers of consequences.
@LnzyHou @Lucky188 @Gladari @YouInMyEye People are getting it anyway Lindsey, they just risk their lives instead of going to a store. Washington state has used the profits in meaningful ways. Alcohol, cigarettes, delta fake, and worse stuff? Help yourself America.
@MidnightRider @Lucky188 @Gladari @YouInMyEye
Respectfully disagree. After living in CO for 30+ years, the resulting onslaught of people for legalized weed has turned a once magnificent state into California.
My son rarely leaves his house.
@LnzyHou @Lucky188 @Gladari @YouInMyEye Then what do we do? Curtail the freedoms of others because some are reckless with freedom? That's cable knit sweater string, get rid of all the other vices too, no more drinking, cigars or smokes. I was never a fan of wide bans for the indiscretions of a few. We used to get 1 hour lunch then people tried taking a half and asking for the pay, then everyone got a half. Also, some of your descriptions may not have an actual nexus with the Devil's lettuce.
@MidnightRider @Lucky188 @Gladari @YouInMyEye
Not going to argue with you. Those that live there know exactly when the onslaught began.
Perhaps it would be a good place for you to move?
@LnzyHou @Lucky188 @Gladari @YouInMyEye
who was I typing to yesterday because I thought she was cool with cannabis in Asheville, something about " I wish". Society is sliding for so many reasons, after all a lot of Americans think Trump is actually a man who will deliver to them a better life.
@LnzyHou @Lucky188 @Gladari @YouInMyEye As always the devil is in the details of what is done with the profits, which are sadly not applied very well; like the NYS lottery. I'm more likely to go home. Close to Canada, (which I miss and love). Don't have to buy or rent, just give notice and move back in too. Also, my GF likes it there, sure there's negatives but there are many positives too. Cashing out of the south would allow me to skate from NY every winter, no problemo.
@LnzyHou @MidnightRider @Lucky188 @Gladari @YouInMyEye
After living in Colorado 51 years... (not withstanding NH for 3 and Switzerland for 12), the "pot tourism" is not as bad as the aftermath from the 2020 housing crisis, when landlords evicted tens of thousands after companies closed.
@zenmudprod @MidnightRider @Lucky188 @Gladari @YouInMyEye
Are you living there now?
Iβm not blaming βpot tourismβ. Itβs the change in the entire culture from hoards of new residents.
@LnzyHou @MidnightRider @Lucky188 @Gladari @YouInMyEye
I do:

1973-1994
(Interim in NH & Switzerland)
2010-today
Happily, I immunized myself from Interstate 70, by moving down near Wolf Creek.
Who do we blame, though?
Those who bought into our "dream" and moved here?
Or those conservatroids who voted EVERY election, for unimpeded growth ("jobs, jobs, jobs!"), while insulting "berry pickers"?
To paraphrase:
"If you don't build it, they won't come."

@LnzyHou @MidnightRider @Lucky188 @Gladari @YouInMyEye
Where? Looks a bit
"Westbound near Dillon Reservoir"?
@LnzyHou @MidnightRider @Lucky188 @Gladari @YouInMyEye
My "US Highway" commute, daily.
(Unless between Memorial Day and Labor Day)
@zenmudprod @MidnightRider @Lucky188 @Gladari @YouInMyEye
Which road is that? Heading west.
@LnzyHou @MidnightRider @Lucky188 @Gladari @YouInMyEye
Was I correct on "I 70 westbound, near Dam"?
π
My photo is westbound US Hwy 160, around mile marker 195 (+/-), between Del Norte behind me, and South Fork ahead...
@CinnamonGirlE @Lucky188 @YouInMyEye @LnzyHou @Gladari Prohibition 2.0, cannabis is everywhere, the only thing the Feds are accomplishing is making some states smoke "moonshine" quality smoke while the more enlightened states are getting Angel's Envy.
