Let me relate one story about living in the south. A long time neighbor, who attends the largest baptist church near me, called me to recruit my help. It was a normal neighborly call and I thought it was about a chicken-que. But it turned out to be a rallying call to get everyone she could to go to a meeting and root out what she called "the gay liberals" who wanted to volunteer at the local fire department.

Probably so. I keep to myself. That's just who I am in general. So hopefully won't be seeing her anytime soon.

I know this world <small town texas>;as well, left as fast as I could back in the day. 🙃
Wut was your small town?
In mine, the prison population outnumbered the civilian poulation..... I actually went truall demotion to work at the prison till ui found out you couldn't smoke on the premise!
Go figure. 🤣
As I see it, it saved my life att!
< I don't smoke now, thankfully>

Hopefully everyone is smart enough to make it thru my typoS! Omgee, they are bad in this one @lol 😆

I don't know about that Trey. It's just all I have ever known. 🤷🏻♀️
I am pretty introverted anyway, but sometimes I wonder if part of that is perpetuated by the fact I don't subscribe to the "good old boy" way of life. Easier to be home than be part of that.

You’re stronger than I am, Cinni.
Another reason I left the South, cuz even the so-called “mainstream denominations” (in same) are filled with wobbly quasi-Trumpers and hypocrites full of lip-service. It’s understandable given how communities and all things related interact in “good ol-boy towns” (parties, friendships, marriages, careers) but something I wanted no part of.
