This tells me that people who don't approve of using pronouns DO "get it", they just don't want to be respectful, but ALSO greatly care about appearances. They would lose their "Holier than Thou" status, or be viewed as a hypocrite, if they were seen being disrespectful to others (as long as it's someone that they view as deserving of respect). So they play dumb, act like pronouns are a new thing, or hard to understand... it's a dog whistle, much like the Southern "Bless Your Heart".

@Heucuva8 lol. in the 70s, it was Ms., not Miss OR Mrs. as far as pronouns, "they" has always been used as singular for a non-specified gender neutral. the GQT are rewriting grammar history now?

Eh, I'll allow this because the OP probably wasn't alive during that time... but whether you use Ms, Miss, or Mrs, is entirely up to you.

For example, is a Widow supposed to continue using Mrs after their spouse's death?

And why isn't there a separate word for an unmarried Male, like there is for Females?
It's just Mr.

Which is why I said think we should simplify and give EVERYONE Mx, unless they state a preference for something else. 🤷🏻‍♂️
