So #RIPFishbone (now effectively the Angelo & Chris Show, good luck with THAT, fellas), the REAL fathers of funk rock (not the Silly Schleppers) and the bridge from 2-Tone to 3rd Wave ska. Ask Stefani, she'll tell you.
MY FB Top 10:
10) "VTTLOTFDGF"
9) "When Problems Arise"
(Trivia -- video directed by Toni Basil.)
All you "Say Anything" devotees -- THIS is the tune Cusack was playing on his jambox. Cameron Crowe thought the Gabriel tune was more appropriate, so there ya go. 😆
8) "Bonin' In The Boneyard"
Ha! Speaking of "Say Anything" -- remember cassette singles? Lookee here...
7) "Skankin' To The Beat"
Enough fucking around. Let's go live to the Warfield in '92...
6) "Fight The Youth"
They tried, y'all. They really did.
Venn diagrams of (early '90s) genre-fetishists weren't ready.
5) "Everyday Sunshine"
Back to that Warfield boot. Check the lyrics AND the 6/8 time sig. 🔥
4) "Servitude"
Norwood told me that this bittersweet slice of pie was "about the radio, man."
3) "Lemon Meringue"
Then they lost Kendall and Chris and got moody/introspective. My favorite album cuz it's in your face (punny) and nasty. Of course. 🤓
2) "In The Cube"
One extra at no cost to YOU! 😎
We've all been trained by our worlds...
Encore: "Unyielding Conditioning"
@InUnfunky sorry for your loss.
Been a long, slow decline since ‘96 so not like people couldn’t see it coming. Surprised that they soldiered on with various replacements and returns. In fact, Angelo and Chris plan to still tour as Fishbone — we’ll see if Norwood and Fish sue for the name. Drama! The saga ain’t over yet. 🤣
@InUnfunky I understand. Denial is part of the grieving process. You’ll always have the CDs and concert footage. 💔
@InUnfunky no. I knew my parents were dying. And when each died there was no denial. I was an adult and in my 40s when the last one died. Are you in the habit of giving orphans a hard time?
@CanisPundit
It seems like this thread about favorite songs from a group long past its prime has touched a personal chord with you, no pun intended. I'm sorry for your loss.
