I was thinking about something this morning. You know that trope where the husband is sweet/nice with contractors and construction guys and the wife is like bitchy? 1) it's basically real 2) I thought of why: I/many men have very few tools to use when having any kind of disagreement that doesn't escalate to a fight or conflict of some kind. So what is perceived as 'bitchy" is just, you know, a person saying "this isn't ok, fix it please"

I experienced this when we were buying a home. Whenever I would ask the contractor about anything, he would look at me like I had grown horns. Not that way with my husband...who really is that easy-going guy who doesn't worry about things. When I tried to talk to him later about the laundry room door not blocking the appliances (normal sized ones), he just said, Mrs. So-and-So down the street didn't complain. ARG.
