When millions of people have their info compromised and only a few run into actual problems, we get too complacent. We play the odds. "oh, why would they target me??"
Because they can.
We must demand our very nicely paid repreentatives in Congress stop whatever it is they do instead of governing and DO SOMETHING.

Not sure how to fix something like this.....when I was first alerted to this several weeks ago, I took it personally, then found out this has happened to millions of people....you know there's always someone out there who wants what you have, and often times it's a simple password that keeps them at bay.....so, WTF now?
That number. That SSN. That's all they need to make lives hell.
I think it may be time for autolocking accounts at the credit bureaus so new accounts can't be opened by others. But even then who's safe? Equifax itself was hacked a while back. What a pain in the ass!

Again I'm told my information was very possibly stolen from SOMEONE I NEVER GAVE IT TO! An entity I didn't even know existed.
It's just lovely that a person can't fully function in human society any more without being online and in the clouds. So we give bits and pieces of ourselves to those we trust and those we must and they - without asking or telling us - pass it around like a joint at a Willie Nelson concert.
