It's almost like either they don't recognize a bad investment when they see one, or else they expect to get their money's worth despite your short shelf-life.

I suppose if the "carried interest" tax loophole comes up again in the next 17 months you'll be there to defend it; but honestly, what are the chances of that with Republicans controlling the House? I think your precious is safe for the remainder of your time in office. So safe in fact, that you probably won't need to lift a finger.
Hey! There's an idea! Why don't you resign, safe in the knowledge that your key demographic, hedge-fund managers, will be able to feather their nests at the expense of the American taxpayer well past your "best-by" date.
