I love how sympathy is doled out in doses based upon geography. Beware: you could move because you know, life, and then people won't care anymore about disasters happening to you *there*.
If you live *there* or look *like that* or if *we cannot ascertain your origin* just be ready for no one to care. That's the world. It's a lottery.

@agitated_trash it's true, probably wouldn't be a bad thing for everyone to stop taking vacations until we can take proper care of everybody. Take a trip to rural India and you will wish you will be grateful to be homeless in rural LA.
