Watching maga politicians on maga twitter now fight over who will fill Vance's seat until November. Vivek is doing a lot of posturing and self-promoting. However, the dismal response to him, means his candidacy is a fantasy.
Did Vance resign from the Senate? I wouldn't do that if I were he. I mean, not that he's the most productive member of the body, but he might want to keep his day job.
Might not have a choice, depends on Ohio law. I remember when KY had to change their law to allow Rand Paul to run for POTUS and keep his Senate job at the same time.
Vance was elected in 2022, started serving in 2023, so he still has another 4+ years to go in his term; he doesn't have to worry about running both for VP and Senate at the same time. If he resigns before then, Mike DeWine (the R governor) appoints his replacement who serves until a special election sometime in the following year. But there's no particular reason for him to resign before he knows whether he's won or lost.

I do 'cuz Hubert H. Humphrey was most Progressive. Unfortunately he was "smoke filled room" candidate.We ended up w/POTUS Nixon. "Dissatisfaction with the perceived undemocratic nature of the nominating process led Democrats to create a commission (McGovern–Fraser Commission) that would ensure greater democratic input into how nominees were selected.

To curb protest presidential candidates from getting on a states ballot last minute (which would syphon off votes from 2 major partirs) creating issues for states, each state adopted requirements for candidates to get on ballots. There is a deadline in each state by which a candidate must apply and qualify. RFK Jr is not yet on ballot in all 50 states. That's the same fate awaiting any NEW Presidential Candidate for the Dem Party. Even Kamala would have to go to court.
I didn't think about this one, does that also apply to major Party Endorsed candidates?

Thank you Bliss, I thought that some of those laws were out there. Not sure if that was the exact one in KY that affected Rand Paul, but I surely remember he had to have a special law passed for him to allow him to run & keep his current job.
