yes, my son arrived to newark airport at 6pm, went through Manhattan and got home last night at 7pm and even he thought it was eerily quiet. After hudson fireworks there was no local fireworks. That's very out of character for nyc. It's still very quiet today. The Bldg next door, which usually hosts a block party, didnt do that this year.
That's fine for me too. I prefer the subdued quietness than crazy angry period.

Yeah, it really is! This is the main reason why I also don't like fireworks.

Yeah, I really can't handle the whole kaboom thing! I also worry about pups and vets. On LI, a guy let his young child set off fireworks. One hit a shed and set it on fire. Another house also caught on fire along with the house the father and his family were renting. Also on LI, 8 people severely injured including an 8 year old. They weren't even the ones setting off the fireworks. So yeah! Hard pass on fireworks!
