Why would they give a heart transplant to someone who doesnโt take care of themselves.
Morbidly obese people donโt get transplants either.
Look itโs not like we have a steady supply of hearts lying around, and we need to give them to people who are going to have the best outcomes. Otherwise someone died for nothing.
With rare exceptions, in the US active alcoholics also don't get livers. I don't believe alcoholics are less worthy of living, but I don't disagree that they aren't the best recipients of a healthy liver.
