My Great Grandfather, Moses Reuven Rogov, left persecution of Russia where he was born to come to the USA. My late half brother came to the USA with his father and my mother as refugees. His father had numbers tattooed and was jailed for being a Jew. My mother would not spare details of the horrors of WWII and as a result I'd have nightmares of bombers heading my way. The 67 riots of Detroit gave me a taste of wartime with snipers, tanks and millitia in front of my home with curfews.
